If you keep pasting the same prompt into Claude or Cursor before every customer call, turn it into a skill. A skill is a folder with one SKILL.md file that tells the agent how to run a workflow. The agent loads it when your request matches, or you call it by name.
We'll use the Discovery-to-brief skill from the free FDE Radar Playbook Kit as the example.
What a skill is
A SKILL.md file has two parts:
- Frontmatter between
---lines, with anameand adescription. The description is what the agent reads to decide when to use the skill, so say what it does and when to use it. - Instructions in plain markdown: the steps, the prompt to use, and the rules to follow.
Skills only load fully when they're used, so you can keep a lot of them around without filling the agent's context.
Step 1: Get the skill
Download the kit and unzip it. The skill lives at:
fde-radar-playbook-kit/agent-skills/discovery-to-brief-in-15-minutes/SKILL.md
Step 2: Put it where your agent looks
Claude Code. Copy the folder into your personal skills folder so it works in every project:
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills cp -r fde-radar-playbook-kit/agent-skills/discovery-to-brief-in-15-minutes ~/.claude/skills/
To share it with your team instead, put it in your repo at .claude/skills/.
Cursor. Copy it into ~/.cursor/skills/ (all projects) or .cursor/skills/ (one project). Cursor also reads skills from ~/.claude/skills/, so if you did the Claude Code step, it already works in both.
Keep the folder name as is. The name in the frontmatter must match the folder name, using lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens only.
Step 3: Run it
After your next discovery call, open Claude Code or Cursor's agent chat and either:
- type
/discovery-to-brief-in-15-minutesand paste your call notes, or - just say "turn these discovery call notes into a brief for my AE" and paste the notes. The agent picks the skill from its description.
You get the notes rewritten as current state, desired outcome, metrics, decision process, technical environment, risks and open questions, with anything you assumed flagged. Then a 5-bullet brief for your AE and a follow-up email draft.
Step 4: Make it yours
Open SKILL.md and edit it like any doc:
- Sharpen the description if the agent doesn't pick the skill up on its own. Name the moments you'd use it, for example: "Use after a customer discovery call to turn raw notes or a transcript into a deal summary, an AE brief and a follow-up email."
- Add your company's sections to the summary, like security requirements or the integrations you support.
- Keep the rules. The skill tells the agent never to invent customer facts and to stay out of AI tools your company hasn't approved for customer data. Leave those in.
What else is in the kit
There are 11 more skills in the same format, covering account research, tailored demos, POC scoping, agent POCs with evals, security questionnaires, integration debugging, 30-60-90 plans, weekly status updates, runbooks, deal debriefs and EBR decks. Plus 22 prompts and 12 workflows as plain markdown.
Download the free kit. No signup.
